  • The lifting load is inconsistent with the operating load: The opening and closing force of the power station gantry crane not only includes the gravity of the gate and the resistance of the gate slot, silt, rust, dirt, and water pressure, but also needs to be multiplied by a larger safety factor. This force varies during the lifting process, and the operating load generally only refers to the load of the lifting device plus the gate.
  • Small span: Due to the characteristics of hydraulic structures, the width of the dam crest or tailwater platform is limited, so the span of the power station gantry crane is usually small, with larger spans of more than ten meters and smaller spans of only a few meters.
  • Low speed: In order to facilitate operation, ensure that the lifting device is aligned with the gate and that the lifted gate runs up and down along the gate slot, with a lower speed requirement for the operating mechanism. At the same time, in order to avoid excessive impact when the gate descends, the speed of the lifting mechanism should not be too fast.
  • Large lifting range: Due to the fact that the power station gate is located at a certain depth underwater, the lifting range of the power station gantry crane is relatively large, with a minimum lifting range of more than 20 meters and maximum lifting range of over 100 meters.
  • Special requirements for steel wire ropes and lifting appliance: Considering the underwater working environment, galvanized steel wire ropes should be used for steel wire ropes. Sliding bearings are generally used for pulley bearings, and if rolling bearings are used, sealing devices need to be considered. The shaft generally requires chrome plating or other anti-corrosion treatment.
