The main components of a crane hook include:

  • Hook body: including hook body and hook neck. The hook body is equipped with a bearing seat and anti slip threads, and the hook neck is equipped with a stopper rod and torsion spring device.
  • Hook assembly: Generally speaking, a hook assembly consists of components such as a hook, hook crossbeam, thrust bearing, pulley, pulley shaft, pull plate, and pulley housing.

 

In addition, depending on the manufacturing method and shape, hooks can be divided into forged hooks and laminated hooks, single hooks and double hooks, and other types. For example, a piece type hook is made by riveting several steel plates that have been cut and formed, which has good safety. However, it has a large self weight and is often used on cranes for lifting heavy loads or lifting steel barrels. Single hook is simple to manufacture and easy to use, but it has poor stress conditions and is mostly used in work environments with a lifting capacity of less than 80 tons; When lifting heavy loads, double hooks with symmetrical force are often used

The types of crane hooks can be classified from multiple perspectives, and the following are the main classification methods:

  • Classified by shape: can be divided into single hook and double hook. Single hook is suitable for most conventional lifting operations, with a simple structure and easy operation; Double hooks are suitable for situations where multiple items need to be handled simultaneously, such as the assembly of large steel structures or the lifting of complex equipment.
  • Classified by manufacturing method: it can be divided into forged hooks and sandwich hooks (also known as laminated hooks). The forged hook is made of a single piece of high-quality low-carbon steel, while the sandwich hook is made of several steel plates riveted together, with relatively higher stress resistance and safety performance.

 

According to usage requirements, it can be classified into enclosed, semi enclosed, electric rotating hooks, long arm hooks, and specialized hooks (such as electromagnetic suction cup hooks, grab bucket hooks, etc.). These hooks have been optimized for specific lifting requirements, which can improve the safety and efficiency of lifting.

  • Classified by lifting capacity: Single hook is usually used for cranes with smaller lifting capacity, such as cranes lifting less than 30T; Double hooks are used to lift cranes ranging from 50T to 100T; Single hooks in the form of sheets are used for lifting cranes ranging from 75T to 350T, while double hooks are used for lifting cranes exceeding 100T.

When choosing a lifting hook, factors such as lifting capacity, lifting requirements, ease of operation, safety, and cost should be considered to ensure lifting safety and improve operational efficiency
