Crane Grab Bucket

Crane grab is a material handling device installed on a grab crane, used for transporting, loading, and unloading bulk or block materials.
A grab crane is a special type of crane equipped with a grab device, mainly composed of a main arm, a crane base, a grab mechanism, and an operating system. Grab buckets can be used to load or lift bulk materials such as coal, ore, construction waste, etc. as needed, and can also be used for excavation, cleaning of ditches and other tasks. Grab bucket cranes have different bearing capacities and working ranges, and are widely used in ports, docks, mines, construction sites, and other places. Its advantages include Strong functionality, efficiency, flexibility, and cost savings.

There are mechanical and hydraulic types of grab buckets. In terms of working principle, the grab bucket is suspended by four steel wire ropes on the opening and closing mechanism and the lifting mechanism respectively. The opening and closing mechanism drives the grab bucket to close and grab materials, while the lifting mechanism evenly loads the four steel wire ropes for lifting work. When unloading, only the opening and closing mechanism is activated, and the bucket mouth immediately opens, tilting the materials.

The main classification of crane grab buckets:

• Classified by purpose: including single rope suspension grab, two rope grab, four rope grab, four rope dispatching grab, electric motor grab, stainless steel grab, hydraulic multi flap grab, scissor grab, log grab, and electric hydraulic grab.
• Classified by material density: divided into four levels: light, medium, heavy, and super heavy grab buckets.
• According to the type of crane, it can be classified into bridge type grab crane, gantry grab crane, and articulated grab crane. Among them, bridge type grab crane can be further divided into single beam and double beam grab crane.
• Classified by grab type: including clamshell grab, multi petal grab, wood grab, straw bundling grab, etc., suitable for different scenarios and materials.
• Classified by driving method: divided into two categories: hydraulic grab and mechanical grab. The hydraulic grab bucket itself is equipped with an opening and closing structure, usually driven by a hydraulic cylinder; Mechanical grab buckets are not equipped with opening and closing structures, and are usually driven by external forces such as ropes or connecting rods. According to their operating characteristics, they can be divided into double rope grab buckets and single rope grab buckets, with the most commonly used being double rope grab buckets.

When choosing the type of grab bucket, factors such as the working environment, the object to be grabbed, the cubic number of objects to be grabbed at once, the specific gravity of the material, and the tonnage of the crane used should be considered.
